Thanks for the tip; I haven't ridden highway 36 yet, but highway 299 which parallels it through the Trinity National Forest in October (Arcata to Redding) was pretty darn nice.

I made my own manometer with four ports to sync an inline-4 after my expensive carb-sync tool failed. Mine was cheap, easy to make, and is quite effective. Lots of pics out there to give you ideas.

Less than $3k for nearly new bike. I wouldn't spend $6k on a 250.

I saw a klx250s on Craigslist here (Savannah) recently with 300 miles for <$3k. I wouldn't pay $6k for a new 250 when nearly new ones can be had for half that. I do like EFI, though.

You didn't mention mileage, but those sprockets look very worn. I'd replace them, and chain.

I've read that the (larger) klr650 front brake disk will bolt up to our front hub. Has anyone made a bracket to move the caliper out to allow use of the 650 disk? Would seem like a cheap route to a...

My electronic flasher was plug-n-play. I can't find the part number but I got it and bulbs from superbrightleds.com. Worked out well.

I replaced every bulb except headlight on my bike with LED. I used an electronic flasher; way easier than messing with resistors, and with resistors you'll just waste power as (a small amount) of...

Car and driver mag had a graphic showing fuel prices around the globe. Lowest was Venezuela at $0.06/gal. Highest was Turkey at >$9/gal. Even higher than Norway. Another reason to go small.

I have...

Got a couple of 1.5W lights from superbrightleds.com (PLM series) and wired up today. Mounted to radiator supports. Not a bad result for a total investment of about $15. We'll see how they hold up....

If it has the abs brakes, make sure the fluid was changed regularly. Servo pump can be a $2k repair.

I did the same (replaced all bulbs - except headlight - with LED). I added heated grips and no problem running those. But a heated jacket pulls a lot more than you'll save this way.

Bought a black '02 R1150R...
