I mis-read your post.
Put the bottom mount into a vise (copper jaws or the like reccomended) and there is a jam nut on the other side. loosen this and it will come right off.

Which part are you having trouble with, the linkage can put pressure on the shock if you dont take the weight off of the bike first and that will make things difficult.
