That's not good. I was under the mistaken belief that BMW had one final drive design across the line. For all we know the GS final drive has been made lighter and will be prone to failure.

I suspect the reliability difference is mostly 50 some horsepower and old school electrics and fueling v. 130hp and weight saving measures, and exotic electrics and EPA mandated fueling.

I doubt it was over 85. I have put in over 9 gallons a few times, at different stations. I think the 8.7 gal spec is a bit low, and the plastic tank has expanded a bit.

I would look for a dealer fix and/or look for a loose connection. I had a nut come off a stud holding the ground cable on the starter solenoid. These bikes do like to vibrate some shit off.:lol3

So question is, can I use locktite on electrical connection screws and bolts? If not, you might want to develop that product.
