You don't need a SPOT for this to work. I use the iPhone apps gibbyTrip or SWConnect. Unlike the SPOT you have to be in cell coverage but it's a free way of trying it out.

Does it heat up if you ride and don't touch the brakes? With new pads my piston does not sit flush with calliper, it is still extended slightly.
