You are right, with those pistons the clip could fall out without damage and fall into the crankcase without cylinder damage. With OEM style piston s it probably would have been uglier.

If they are ridden at 3500 to 7500 rpm as they are intended, you may
have a problem with weak spark. Just my opinion.

Attach clip to the end of the screwdriver and just push it in. No big deal.

No matter where the brake shoes come from, they need to be arced to fit the drum unless you want to wait years for them to bed in. Pulsating means that the drums need to be trued up on a lathe.
