You could get a crank-mounted ignition system and eliminate the ghosting problem entirely, while tightening up the spark.

It's just a repaint. Look at the mirror bases to see the original color.

That original matte silverblue was often repainted, or polished to get rid of the matte.

The writing side of the gasket has a heat-activated sealant. You want it to be on the hotter surface, meaning the block.
