The bike ran fantastic except the gear shifter came loose and wouldnt clamp any tighter, the splines are worn down. I will have to come up with some fix for this....

Thanks for that info - I am biting the bullet and i am attempting to repair the old loom - and wont be using the 92 loom i bought. Should have thought about it more...the US XR600's didnt run...

I will certainly flush it a few times more however i made the powdercoater aware of the oil-in-tank so that he could avoid spraying any media into there, and although he reckoned it went pretty well...

Carb re-installed - the bike lives!

Well - good news - after cleaning the carb i installed it (without the airbox) ran some petrol through it and the bike lit up after the 2nd kick!

I was stoked! :clap

However, now im wondering...
