When the K60 tires on my 8GS were new I experienced some wobble on smooth tarmac and tracking in cement rain grooves...

we replaced the 31/11 (2.82) final drive with a 37/11 (3.36) on our R1150GSA-hack

the rpm increase was welcome and motor seemed to run smoother

One change that I appreciate is that the final drive ratio went from 2.82 to 2.91 between '07 and '08 model years.

The change is only ~3%, but the lower gearing and closer ratios are noticeable.

You head & helmet, however, may not be stable...

The same rack works with the 31L and 51L bags. Very secure, easy on/off....
