Thank you! Really appreciate the detailed reply. So I imagine the Sertao uses the smaller bolt size as well, as it has same part numbers for the clutch lever.

I think, if you look at your tail-light bulb spec, you can tell if it's CANBUS. If it's a two contact bulb, it's a conventional system, if it's a single contact, it is probably CANBUS. I suspect that...

These look great. I wonder if they would work on the Sertao. The OEM part numbers for 2007 Dakar and the Sertao are the same. Could you please post a close up picture of the levers on the Dakar?

This is what I used. Slides right in. Wayne is correct, both rings are supplied, and I used the Dakar rings. This is because the Dakar (and the Sertao) have thicker tube walls.

140 Nm sounds high, but the old models used a different system. The G650GS is using a bolt, while the older models used a nut on the output shaft. So this might explain the discrepancy in torque.

Yea, it is a pain. I'd suggest to watch a few videos and read the manual before working on this bike. Many things are over-engineered and counter intuitive. It's a bit of a PITA to service, so...

I'd venture to say it's a bearing. I'd also venture to say: don't worry about it. I think all of our bikes wine to some degree. Even my Sertao has a hint of that sound (if you try hard to hear it).

Notwithstanding the fact that many don't like the paper filter, is this normal, or is the filter defective? Is it too much of an obstruction?

Thanks

I think you'll be quite pleased after the decompression lever change. The bike will start reliably, cold or hot. Do change the battery, the OEM is garbage.
