I'm guessing none of the racks for the older DR will be a direct bolt on since the grab handles off the sub frame are gone and the sub frame doesn't loop up over the rear fender anymore.

Just rode my DR200 up and down the Oregon coast with some pretty gnarly winds and thought nothing of it. Your 250 will be no taller and a bit heavier so you should be plenty well off.
