For fiddly stuff that likes to strip easily like the oil filer cover bolts I find a smaller socket helps. More feel of when it's snug with a 1/4" on a tiny breaker bar.

It wouldn't work. I've wound mine in as far as they went and then had to back it out a bit because at its closest setting with zero slack in the cable the lever hits the grip before it has disengaged...
