BMW having second thoughts about water cooling?

I don't think it's coincidence that we're suddenly seeing proposed new variations on the supposedly obsolete "hexheads"... Given all the reliability problems BMW is having with their new designs and...

Tires are most critical...

But if you manage to jam a big ass 425/65-22.5 super single in the swing arm, you haven't increased your rear axle weight rating to the tires 10,000 pound rating!

http://gearheadgrrrl.com/2015/04/15/breaking-no-buellebr-aint-gone-bankrupt/

EBR has filed for receivership under Wisconsin Statute 128, which ain't the same as bankruptcy.

Highest bike GVW I know of is 1500 pounds...

Which is what the newer HOG(NYSE) FL and Victory Vision baggers are rated for. Looks like some of you seriously need to put your outfits and maybe selves too on a diet!

I could fill the bill as a "big monkey"...

But I'm no stronger than a small monkey, so I suspect my major contribution would be as ballast. Same gusty winds here, up to 40 MPH, did about 350 miles yesterday on the Super 10 in the wind. Thus...

Your outfit has the gradability...

Even with it's high gearing, your 1150GS has the power to handle much steeper grades than a mere 18%... In theory. The limiting factor is traction, and with 40-50% of vehicle weight on the drive...

Airheads are perfect tugs...

If 50 HP will do the job. Compared to everything else they're easier to repair, at least a durable, lightweight with a low center of gravity, and reasonably priced.

Met the guy back in the 70s when he was a Toyota dealer with a side interest in Minis, and heard rumors of his stash over the years... Yup, he's got about half the legendary "Catalina Island" mokes...

Fifty degrees fairenheit here in southwest MN!

Almost nice enough to take out the unhack'd bikes... But the roads are still kinda rutted from the spring breakup.

This sidecar is going to need "ballast" all the time! So instead of useless stuff like sand and shot (If you need a hundred pounds to hit something, you really should give up hunting!), how about a...

Lotta Quota's been hack'd...

They seem made for it- Torquey engine, lotsa brakes, yet relatively low tech enough to keep an airhead rider happy. Only downside is lousy fuel economy and some of them foul plugs at part throttle.

Claude, wanna make another one?

As long as you're at it... Assuming you could make the subframe and such and ship it to me. The Stroker wheel sounds tempting too.

Where's that $14k new wethead?

How and where are you going to ride it?

The Airheads are just plain simpler to mount and repair, and being a bit lighter will handle better too. But if you need high speed cruising ability, go with the K bike- MY 50 HP R65LS and R80ST top...

The Motorvation in Huron might be a good deal...
