Schluter system is the best. Light, strong, pre-sloped pan, easy for the DIY'er, drain system is fool proof. I think the drain is the part that most people mess up with 'homemade' pans.

Doesn't sound silly to me. Same stuff every year, no significant deals, and I'm usually in and out in 30 minutes or less. I'll put the $20 toward stuff that I've ordered online for a lot less $$$
