Garmin GPSMAP 78

The local West Marine had the Garmin GPSMAP 78 clearance priced today at $179.88.

Small screen, but good unit for dirt bikes, I use it for tracklog generation.

OSMAND for multiple tracks/routes.

OSMAND doesn't handle multiple tracks in one file properly.
Ir renames all the tracks to track01, track02, etc.
All the track colors are changed to one color.

Percentage dirt

The document file pretty well lays out what is pavement and what is dirt.

The day from Anacortez to Mazama is all paved.

The days east of there are mostly dirt with some paved connectors.

There are no gates on this route - it's all public roads - county, state or Forest Service.

It isn't just the cost for the maps... it's the security exposure of having my PayPal account and password used and stored on the tablet - which it does by default. Oh, and my REQUIRED Gmail account...

Actually, GPX files are MUCH bigger than GDB files.

On a file I have posted here, in GDB it is 1850kb, in GPX it is 10,082kb.

Can't do it with the file posted on ADVrider.

Gas at Ponca NE

Based upon feedback from other inmates I've updated the files to reflect gas availability at Ponca NE.

The waypoint has been changed as well as the gas distances in the documentation.

No to '84 or '85 XR200 engines

You really don't want to use either the '84 or '85 XR200 engines.

Those two years they were 4 valve engines - no more power, heavier, and MUCH less reliable.

Another option to the start

Check out the TET / TET-S routes here on ADVrider.

They are dual sport routes like the TAT and connect anywhere along the east coast to Tellico Plains to start the TAT.

They go near the bottom...
