Where do you ride with your kids?

My 11 year old just got a bike. We can ride a bit in our yard and there is an allowed riding area about a mile away. There are also off-road parks 40 miles away. Are there areas that kids can ride...

Loosening levers so they move in a crash offroad?

I've seen a few references to loosening the brake and clutch levers slightly so that when the bike is dumped offroad the lever assembly rotates rather than bends a lever. Is this a common practice? ...
