Sounds like the bike is fuel starved. You may need to clean the jets. The fuel/air mixture is behind a plug underneath the carb in front of the float bowl. If it is stock I suggest removing carb....

I run Kenda 270s.The are quiet on the road, OK in the dirt Lower the pressure (sometimes for off road) and last between 3-4K. I tried the trakmasters but too noisy for my tastes.

One nice ride from Wickenburg is Vulture Mine road south then to Old 80 to Gila Bend, Then AJO then Tucson and then back up to Phoenix area via 79. This is all blacktop though. :D

I was only making a suggestion for an alternative clutch basket holding tool. I should have made myself better understood. The need to only remove the 4 bolts was a given. :norton

Holding the clutch basket can be tricky, A fiber wrench (old style oil filter wrench is what I use). Also I use a new side gasket, but I know lots of people that use the old one with silicone gasket...
