Try grounding the heat sink on the diode board. The mounting grommets are a very sketchy path for grounding and a little grounding wire did the trick on my non functional charging system.

Mine's been popping at idle. Playing with the idle mixture screw eliminated it. Backed them out to enrichen the idle. My carbs aren't Bings, Keihins instead, but the idea would work on yours.
