Rear bulb is only 5w for normal lights, its the brakelight that really draws juice. So you only gain about 4w going to led or simular.

Is the bike equipped with lithium battery? Otherwise 13v+...

I just modified a normle h4 bulb to fit the xt headlight. The 3 "fins" on the h4 bulb just needed a bit of trimming to fit, and lock into the headlight.
