I have not had any problems running my tenere on standard unleaded. No pinging, and no noticeable drop in economy. When using opal I use about 15% more fuel, but still no pinging.

Try boxing it up and shipping it. Most dealers will give you the old crates for free, and shipping is a lot cheaper if it's just a box rather than a motorbike.
