I have removed with the screw method. Steady even pull will do it.

Be sure NOT to bottom the new seal (as some would suggest). The back side of the bearing needs access to oil from the transmision...

Picture below shows a real bad one but I have seen much more subtle corrosion. Unclip the header and look for corrosion on the "ribbon cable"...

They do get "splashed" with transmission oil. They are not simply sealed bearings, they are TM bearings designed to allow oil ingress w/o the particles typically circulating in tranny oil entering....

The idle speed is set by the Big Brass screws on each TB, not the throttle cables. (initial @ 1 1/2 T out)
The left cable is supposed to have 1/2 mm play and the right balanced to suit.
