This was my planned route exactly. Saw the beach riding comment, and we are on DS bikes (KTM 990R and Tiger 800 XC). Will be fully loaded, but may give the beaching riding a try.

Am I right in...

Local Knowledge on Galveston to NOLA?

Planning a trip in late October to spend Halloween in NOLA. Was wondering if it is worth the extra hour to go through the various wildlife refuges off Highway 82 heading east, or just say F&*# it...

Ask them about an updated 990R!

All this talk about 700-800cc twins (to me) is bizarre. The 990 has the power, is light (for it's CC), and has an awesome suspension. Ask KTM about an updated version to compete with the BMW F800GS...

Talking Thanks for the reply.

:lol3I like Wolfman, too. I don't have a rack yet, but may have to check into one. They seem to be pretty useful for all kinds of stuff, including luggage.

Hell of a concept!

I read the whole Versys/KLR transplant, and it this seems like it would be doable.

Gearing would be a question, but at could be tweaked with some gearing (?). Hope someone gets inspired and give...

Anyone put a Wolfman Beta Plus on a KTM 990?

I have been looking at GL and Wolfman bags for a soft luggage option. I like the "horse shoe" shape of these bags, but need to know if they will press in on the plastics. We all know how hot the...

Holy Fook!

Glad you checked into it. I always do the same, and it has saved me many surprises. That is a serious chunk of coin over years of ownership.

just bought a new 2012 R

Paid 12.5K OTD. Bike price was 11.4K before fees.

They only go one way in value and dealers should be looking to move disco'd inventory.

Aux fan is nice

And easy to install. Plug and play. I am mixed on skid. Stock is ok for tarmac. If you hammer it like the Osos the BDCW is necessary.

Transmission gurus--I need an education on why 650's are all 5 speed

Why are all the DS 650's (Honda XR, Suzuki DR, KLR, BMW G650gs, Husky) all 5 speed transmissions? KTM is the only one making a six speed (that I know of) in this class.

Is there an engineering...

KLX250S- Why no Fuel Injection in US

Tires and bags?

I'm running Conti Trail Attack and they are a great road tire that can do gravel or fire road type stuff.

For mostly road I'd say get racks and luggage of your choice.

That is more adventure in 1 day than most care to have...ever. I've had to walk out of Poison Spider Mesa (on mountain bike) down the Portal trail and that was not something I care to repeat.
