Mine does that if the face shield is not fully locked closed - on mine you need to put a fair amount of pressure on it to get it to click shut.

The extra o-rings are so you can replace all the o-rings on the filter cover, drain bolt, strainer bolts and strainers themselves. I don't know if they need changing every oil change...
