Buying an 1190R in 10 easy steps

Step 1: Start reading magazines and websites, which all say that the KTM 1190R was created by the hand of God and the same engineers who created the neutron bomb. One test ride also cures monkey...

It's your money and it's your (soon to be) bike and I have no dog in this fight. Like you, I had some reservations about problems and reliability issues that seem to be surrounding this bike. So I...

Read this with curiosity because I finally got to test ride an 1190r after reading way too much about them. Glad I rode it before I read this.

The bike lived up to the hype for me. A little...

I was on the fence between keeping my Tiger 800 xc or upgrading to the 1190R. After reading people's experiences here, including former Tiger pilots, it pushed me off the fence. I ordered the 1190R,...

Others feel free to chime in, but thanks to all who have shared your experiences so far. Greatly appreciated. Good stuff.

1190 owners, would you buy it again?

I'm deep in the internet geek stage and thinking about selling my trusty Tiger 800xc and buying an 1190R. I've been checking out owners' experiences and know that people who have trouble with their...

Thanks for the intel. I ride a lot in hot weather, so heat could be an issue. I will definitely take it for a serious test ride before deciding.

Ducati has a 19-inch front, which is a deal breaker. I've ridden the Explorer and it just felt like a bigger, heavier version of the Tiger, but less dirt worthy. If I want big, heavy and neutered, I...

Irony alert

It seems like every MC company is now chasing the ADV market by offering a 1000-1300CC comfort barge that is road biased, which seems to me would open up a market for mid-displacement (pick a number)...

Where's the 21-inch wheel option?

I've always considered KTM the "dirtiest" of the ADV bikes, but that was back in the 950/990 days. Now they have four ADV bikes and only one with a 21-inch wheel. Strikes me as odd considering most...

Sounds like there will be some 2015 1190Rs available, even if I can't get one from my local shop. Road trip!

No 1190Rs?

Talked to a local KTM dealer who said they would not be getting any 1190Rs in for 2015 because KTM is pushing the 1290.

Anyone heard anything similar? Seems strange to me, but that's what they...

A 250 is going to suck going long distances on pavement. I think we all can agree on that. A Tiger absolutely loves the twisties, so you will have a blast there.

Obviously the 250 will out dirt...

I'm wondering if...
