Unless I've been doing it wrong the push rods should rotate freely as well. This is how I check to make sure I'm on the correct cylinder (aside from watching the valves open and close).

I've replaced the headers, collector box, and silencers on my 95 R100 and had to ditch the stock center stand due to it scraping in corners. The headers I've put on bike are from an 82 R100 I think....
