To check the fuel quality I'd be inclined to carry a small Mr. Funnel along...you could pass the first liter of fuel by this and check wether the fuel is good...if it is there's no need for further...

Try a 990 adventure and you won't regret it...the GS is much less than its marketing suggests...not the case with the big KTM it's much more...and its parts much better quality to begin...

Lets start with the fact that a 2007 and 1500miles is suspiciously low...if it is real then I'd still go with the 2009 for it must be ridden frequently (yet still not much, my 2009 has 45k miles)...
