Given the unreliability of current BMWs...

Gonna need lots of pickups and trailers to haul that beer to the rally, and the dead BMWs home.

Illegal in USA, but legal in South Dakota, etc.

South Dakota will give you a license plate for anything, ATVs included... I've seen them on every road there but the freeways. But as far as US DOT is concerned, they're off road only. So far, US DOT...

Is Minnesota checking engine numbers?

Never heard of them checking before, unless their was some question about the bike's legality. Wisconsin's been the tough one!

How come I ain't seen you at Judson or ridin' the MN River Valley?

And if you attended that great rally at Oshkosh, I hope your goal is to at least equal it! No point in referring me to MOA news, there's no reason for me to be a member anymore since Judson had to...

Currently riding the R65LS I bought new in '84...

110k or so miles, half that pulling' a hack. Still haven't had the heads off or transmission apart, even has the original charging system. Back then BMWs were worth the premium price... Now, not so...

Just because you got money, no need to waste it...

I buy everything cash, and can walk into a BMW dealership and buy any bike on the floor. I got that well off by not wasting money on overpriced BMWs and rallies and club memberships...

Sound like y'all been hitting' the KoolAid a little heavy...

But I suppose after you'd payed too much for what you thought was Best Motorcycle in the World and then joined a club of fellow victims to commiserate, reality bites!

Would be nice to have the club's financials online, too...

Shouldn't have to pay $40 a year to see the official explanation of how said $40 may be being wasted.

Bringing back day passes is a good idea...

Still kinda pricey though; Heck, the whole damn rally is too pricey! Memo to the rally chairs: You might want to detail the cost structure of the rally a bit so we can figure out if the high fees are...

Jiggs, I live less than 100 miles from you, and we ain't met...

Which suggests to me that you're new to BMW Motorcycle culture, no problem with that. I'll be happy to share with you memories of some of the great MOA rallies from back in the days when vendors were...

First, too the H8ers from MOA:

Sorry to crash your exclusive little party, and with an airhead at that. H8 all you want, but I'm more interested in solving the lack of green space problem. Looking at maps of the site some more,...

Ya, I'll be there...

But as MOA has decided I'm the enemy, I don't think I'll be allowed to contribute other than monetarily at the gate. I'll be there because it's my duty as a moto-blogger to write about the event,...

Wish I could be part of the solution...

MOA is basically run by the staff in St.Louis now, the board drops in a few times a year, has a meeting, and not much changes. Change requires electing a board that will exercise it's power to turn...

Billings MOA rally needs us...

But being MOA, they ain't figured it out yet. They're holding a rally over 300 miles from the nearest BMW dealer, so you'd think they'd roll out the red carpet for the airheads in hopes we'd fix some...

MOA needs me more than I need them, anyways...

Being as I live 150 miles from the nearest BMW dealer and most of my BMWs are airheads, I let my MOA membership lapse a few years back and haven't missed it a bit. Given MOA's declining membership...

Yup, I'd like to be a part of a great rally...

While Billings has the makings for a great rally, MOA will, as usual, blow the opportunity. Not surprising- Being old and retired and not exactly rich, I'm not BMW and MOA's target market anyway. Not...

OK, how come we have to pay so much for this "adventure"?

There's plenty of places west of the Missouri where I can camp for free or darn near, and I don't complain about the lack of amenities. As for shopping at the "MOA Mall", I'm not into having the most...

'long as it's next to the sewage treatment plant anyway...

May as well have at it! Looking at google maps, there don't look to be no 50 acres of grass there, might be 50 acres of asphalt and concrete though. I suppose MOA will expect us to haul concrete...

I could care less about yer Rvs...

But looks like they may be crowding out my tent! But MOA, I can take a hint: Us cheapskates who never paid over $10k for a bike, even new, and want to sleep on grass instead of in a $100+ a night...

I've found said cardboard squished, or missing...

I suspect one of the reasons OEM's get "better" tires is because an assembly line will go through a container load in a day, and thusly they're often "fresher" and less tweaked than the ones we buy...

Wondering if MOA has learned anything...

From their past rally debacles? "100 RV sites" is not what we're looking for... Perhaps MOA should rebrand itself as an RV club and market to Harley riders?

Tires get tweaked in shipping and storage-

Tires are jammed into containers or trailers so they can fit as many as possible in, then often sit piled in warehouses for years. Is it any wonder they're tweaked?

And as anyone who has mounted a variety of tires knows...

Tires sure as heck ain't uniformly sized- they are flexible by design and not necessarily at design specs after shipping, storage, etc.!

Tire & Rim Cabal Needs to Get it Together...

Good thing I gotta slow street bike with a hack...

And couldn't keep up with you guys!

But honestly, the inconsistent surface of the "roads" in the squares is scary, you can be riding on decent surface and then, Wham!
