no longer a virgin

Enjoyed the pics of your ride. Looks like the stuff I like to ride, and seems you are experiencing the same weather as I am here in the Pacific Northwest of USA. Got the DR-Z out for about 40 miles...

cheap & easy

I've used a plastic 8 by 11 inch sleeve which I found in the school supply department of a variety store, simply duct taped one end to the handlebar cross bar. It moves around with the bar but is...

If your riding style has you going one direction and the machine the other you want a lot of protection for both machine and youself. :D

Clarke tank cap

Problem I had with the cap, which was due to the rubber gasket, was that the initial fit into the plastic neck was tight and if you pushed it down and turned it it would bind and this is when the...

it's here, and gone

Went in today to check on the Freeride, and it was sold. Got to take a good look at it and have to say, it is typical KTM nice. Dealers are only getting one each, so looks like it will be a while for...

I've noticed riders who want to "make time" and travel fast. Never want to stop at something interesting, or to take a photo, and God forbid, are ever willing to back track to anything, and don't...

You will have a hard time satisfying the crowd that wants the perfect "wide ratio gearing". One thing that seems to be overlooked is the rest of the engine numbers. The 450 engine is a short stroke...

Even with a new tube in the box, I'm a bit cautious as to how long it has been folded and in the box, so best to pump some air it it and give it a good look over for signs of age cracks and leaks....

choices

I have a 2012 DR-Z400S and a 2009 DR 650 SE. I run stock gearing on both, Since I'm more interested in traction and good mpg, verses top end HP, I have no desire to modify the intake or exhaust. The...

Drz400

I've had all three. Kept the DR350 for almost 6 years and put 17K trouble free miles on it. The XR250R was a '96 and made it into a 280 cc. No street use, but was really a nice woods machine....

For many of us a $12,000, 450 cc, motorcycle is just to much, even a quality hand built one.

Remove the lever, insert the cable end in the lever then reattach back into the clutch bar assembly. Clear as mud right?

Show Low was home for 6 years in the late 80's. Put 17,000 miles on a DR350 riding the area. Still That red clay mud in the winter has to be experienced to believe how bad it is.

heavy dual sports

What I was trying to say is, if you are going to make a DR-Z as heavy as a KLR you should ride it like a KLR and you might as well have got the KLR to begin with.

A lot of riders are into the camping and carry a lot of gear. The base DR-Z platform is not for a pack animal. No offense here but the KLR650 or the BMW 650GS, seem to fill this mode much better. Big...

I'm 6'1, 175 lbs, 32 in inseam. DR fits me fine.

When you search for the DR-Z in the model column it is listed with the DR's. and pops up in the next column of listings.

speedo error

I put on a larger circumference tire, with the 300/21, over the stock 80% profile and the error dropped to around 2 mph at 60 mph on the speedometer.

wasted time

I'm with you there on not being able to knock off those highway miles. Only being able to cruise at 60 mph while your friend can do 80 mph adds a whole hour to that 250 miles of highway.
