I generally get low 40s running about 80 mph. However, running in the 90s all day in Mexico on premium Pemex I was in upper 40s. Not having ethanol was huge.

Most likely the fuel pump as stated. Mine gets really loud when the filter needs to be changed. It quiets down immediately after and has not required a change.

It seems like 5-7K is high for either bike. My 01 with yacugar shocks, Corbin seats, and other upgrades is worth around $4500. Mine has been trouble free and very low maintenance.

The green material is the tank liner. It peels off the plugs the pickup. Strip as much out as you can and button it back up. The liner is not necessary and its service life on your bike is past.

Are you bleeding the rear at the ABS pump as well? I usually start there, go to the caliper, then finish at the pump. Sometimes I do a final bleed at the caliper. It should end up rock solid.

It sounds like mine when the tank liner let loose and plugged the fuel pick-up. Maybe the fuel intake is soft and caving in but it does sound like a fuel starvation...
