I can't at all see how they would be safer while moving on any road, highway or other. Never rode one but the geometry looks off for cornering.

Changed mine about 4 years ago, 2005 1200GS maybe 15,000 miles. Bike had an easy life up to that point, 9000 mostly highway miles from original owner and the rest from a 1st time dual-sport owner...
