I am on my second set of Mefo rear and TKC front. We ride our 990's very aggressively and this setup has worked great. There is a little buzz from the TKC but it's no big deal.

I suppose it depends on what your riding on. Pavement or gravel/dirt roads - perhaps you don't need them if you don't mind scuffing your tanks. But I ride on a lot of rocky single track type stuff...
