The plastics do stop the tank from being scratched, but then your bike looks crappy until you buy a second set ( for resale time).
What they don't do is protect the radiator from lateral impact...

There are 8 detent positions on the Axis unit.

The RM2 has 8 detents away from centre and 8 for return to centre. You can tune it as you ride.

Macca I noted that th esupplied bolts were minimal length when I fitted my RM2 unit to my DRZ. I used loctite and it never came loose however.
