I've just done that very same job on the wife's ttr but had no success. It's still just spinning on the button. Maybe that idler 2 gear wants replacing too for me.

Having just completed a 2626 mile trip in a week I can safely say that I should have gone the drz route first. I bought a R1150gs to start dual sporting but as a novice I really struggled off road....

Bought a 2005 ... It'll be her first bike. She loves it. First thing she wanted to do was lay it down to see if she could pick it up and she has no problem at all.
