Regarding the leaking fork seal:

I can not recommend using contact cleaner on those fork seals, or any other rubber seal for that matter. It dries out the rubber and prematurely ages it/cracks it.

Film that seal, could just be crusted on dirt, or try a business card. Pop the dust seal down, and stick the film/card underneath the oil seal and wipe around.

I'll definitely be trying those trails on my XR650R! Working on the bike right now, hope to finally have it together this weekend, just rewound the stator for more power and worked out awesome!
