Alt Belt?

Are you sure it's not the alternator belt giving up?

Credit's yours

Good job Drone. Glad you have had a simple solution to a problem that you thought was more serious. I've had a suspicion about the K60 not wearing evenly. Can't happen he says. Your symptoms and...

Cut!

I agree with them looking like they were cut. The other reason I say that is that a spare wheel of mine has (or had) two broken spokes from hard use. They had failed at the rim end, but at the...

K60 mixed feelings

I have mixed feelings about the K60 Drone.

First K60 pair was with the outfit set up. The bike is back to solo now and running a new K60 rear, and the same feeling is there. It's not obtrusive,...

Pivot the bike?

Fair chance the stand leg got bent when someone forced the bike to pivot on the centre-stand when it was loaded or fully fuelled or both. Some guys do that to rotate the bike on the stand so it fits...

Tyres (Tires) ?

Drone - Have had similar issues (not really problems, just the feeling) with my R1150R and my R1150GSA. It was always tyres. It seemed to be wear patterns on the front and sometimes wear on the...

Mexicans and Tolerance

Heard the 'mexican' term way back in the 60's. South of the border was it. Friendly rivalry stuff, and no big deal. My kids are mixed breeds - One born in 'Mexico' and one in NSW due to Defence...

Self analysis

Good job Tux. Always pays to analyse your own rides. Good, bad, worked, didn't work etc. You've skinned the cat quite well.

If your ride is accepted by the IBA you are automatically accepted at...

Three different shades?

Hey Karl,

I've got three GSA 'blue' rear rims and all three are slightly different colours. I'm not convinced that it's all down to fading. It actually looks like 'batch-colouring' to some...

Well done Tux.

Always nice to knock the first one over. It either gets into your blood or it's 'never again'! Make sure the paperwork is correct and complete when it goes for assessment. Then...

Good luck

Have a safe and fun ride. The SS1600K isn't that hard with the sort of planning you've gone into. It's all about maintaining averages. Keep an eye on your total average speed, and within that,...

I was wondering that myself, but maybe misunderstood what the problem was. Anyway, you sometimes don't think through all the options and just get comfortable with what's working at the time.

Kenda Big Block?

I ran a Kenda Big Block as a pusher on my R1150GSA Outfit for a while. Far too much whine. Far too much rubber coated the back wheel and luggage after 110 kph highway use as the blocks...

Dog in front is now banned as the dog 'may' interfer with control of the bike. Has to be on the back and has to be harnessed.

It's not the bike mounts themselves. They seem to be ok. The main crash bar mount is more than just a clamp to the bar. It extends to the actual bar mounting point and is quite rigid. Ditto the...

Hijack

You should write a book. "Adventures with TaSK". It would be a great read.

I've pulled a couple of belts that have been chipped and cracked, but never anything like that one in your photo!

Explanation is good!

Drone - Your explanation helps a lot to understanding 'why' you need the ballast. All makes sense now, but I'm not sure you will get the 'planted' outcome with the ballast you are talking about.

Chains in long bags work, and are less destructive than solid lumps of...

The 7 nm torque seems to be enough to hold the pivot bolt in place when the lock nut is done up. I mark it with a paint-pen just in case, but they never seem to move.

Love the pics. I wanted to see a few more with the outfit included though!

You are lucky to have such striking country (and roads) within reach. I'm suitably impressed.

Torque arm

Leaving the torque arm in place just allows the FD to slide back on the rear spline. It won't allow the front spline to be accessible though. That requires the swing-arm pivots to come out as well....
