Can you heat the area where you are going to bend it with a torch? It doesn't need to be real hot but low heat will make the aluminum more plyable and less chance of it cracking. Just a thought.

I agree with you dlrides. It was designated 741 as the model was the smaller scout #7, and 41 was the year it was made. My scout is a 640 with the #6 is the larger 45 ci. scout and came out in 1940....

Yes, Indian had the same total loss system. Most of the oil spewed onto the rear chain to help keep them lubed on the gravel/dirt roads of the time.
