Try a left handed drill bit. No I am not being a smart-ass. The left hand drill bit will grab and un-thread the bolt. Use lots and lots of PB Blaster or other penetrating oil. Good luck.

I don't know if it gets close to the same mileage but the Geysers road is largely un-patroled and a great route. It runs from Healdsburg to Cloverdale and is a ghost town on the weekend.
