If you feel that unsure...pull the cylinder head cover. Not a big job. Fire it up and watch the oil lubricate the cams and the floor. Button it back up with confidence.

Don't know the particulars on these guards but usually the threaded tapered nut comes up against a spreader sleeve. Put the bolt back in and hit that with a hammer and drive the threaded section...

Looking at the way it appears to be running down from the cylinder head area I would suspect the head cover gasket or donut gasket. But I agree with GS Addict....check the tension.
