The top of it connects to the battery, the bottom just hangs underneath the bike. It's a vent tube for the battery.

Do you have an OEM wet cell battery?

You don't have to take your tank off, but it would make things easier.

Drain/siphon out as much fuel as you can. Remove your petcock from the tank and look for anything that might be clogging it...

Check your air filter. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks. Check your fuel circuit from inside the tank to through the carb. Check your spark plug and ignition...

What weight oil should he use?

I recommended Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10W-40, does anybody agree or know something else?
