Make sure you're installing the rings in the correct order. Use the long bolts to line up all the parts without the rotor.

Also make sure you have the right version...there are 2 sizes.

bike that old...replace main wire harness..will save a lot of grief later..and paint the inside of the headlight shell white..makes a big difference when you're assembling all those little wires.

There's the bolt on and then there's the extended drive shaft that needs to be done correctly.

But why do it at all? The stock G/S setup is as nimble as it gets.

Swing arms and drive shaft are the same post '81 except for the shock mount. Just make sure the welder knows his stuff since a failure down there doesn't have a pretty result at speed.

Pull the tank and check connections at the coil...also do the disconnect/reconnect with the ignition module while you're there....

An engine or tranny swap is usually a one day job. Just did a tranny and rear main and got it...
