Interesting, I have never had an issue with mine and they are about 10 years old.

I have multiple bikes. Buying a new EBC tool for each bike makes no sense.

If you do go with seal savers clean them out religiously. The dirt that gets behind them will grind away the chrome finish of the fork tubes.

Not if you made contact with the outer race. Hammering on the inner race can cause damage to the bearing. Next time use a heat gun. Heat the hub with the heat gun and bearings will drop right in.
