I love older bikes. The one missing link back in the 80's and 90's was the cutting edge aftermarket and knowledge base we have now. These older bikes can really rock now with some precise tweaking....

The bike is always going to run like crap when cold or warm. How does it run hot? It could be pulse generator and or coil. I got fed up and just replaced everything.

The xr crank has a spot on the throws where it is ground down and the xl doesnt.

I am with you there. My son daily rides my WR250X without any issues at all. An XL600R is a hairy beast of a bike and riding it daily can wear anybody out. That said, the XL600R is more fun at times.

Megacycles has a stage one regrind. Any bigger and you will need springs, cut valve guides and reground rockers.
