For 5k, consider a 1200 Suzuki Bandit for a tug. Plenty of power, reliable and very cheap used. I think RedMenace or someone on here had Bandits with Ural chairs and thought the combo worked well.

HD's styling department never fails to confuse me. The softail style suspension lends frame lines just like the early rigid HD's, which in my opinion are the most handsom motorcycles in history....

siclmn is probably right about locking the brake. I don't know if ABS would have saved me, I have a feeling it wouldn't have but who knows. I'd love to have ABS but my bike cost me under 5 grand....
