Fairing is worth a lot of money if marketed correctly - it is a great cat hide out.

I have always sprayed my R75/6 engine down with Silicon spray after a ride while still hot. Now that you have bead blasted metal is more porous the silicon spray should work.:deal

Reseat the cap -

I would reseat the cap and stake it or weld a washer in there to keep it from moving - U-joint caps fall off if not retained.

Remove engine from bike.
tear down completely wipe down all bearing with acetone then use a clean micofiber cloth and wipe down bearing with Rotiila wipe down oil.
now reassemble...

remove spark plugs - turn engine over to empty cylinders

remove sparks and turn engine over to empty cylinders
Drain /refill engine with fresh oil
check your transmission oil for water also

Fuel petcocks left on gas in the cylinder = Hydro Lock

the outcome was that an uncrompressable media entered the engine causing this fault.
