First clean the crank outside of the bearing really good with 600 grit wet/dry paper so the bearing won't hang up and use a couple of cold chisels (or large screw drivers) as wedges on opposite sides...

Had a lot of non CV carbed bikes in CO. Always needed smaller main jets. Sometimes a lot smaller. Even some CV carbs need smaller main jets. Don't think airbox cover will help any. Carry 2 or 3...
