Safety wire is your friend, I learned the same lesson the hard way. Might go to external filter also. Plan to tear it down once it gets too chilly to ride the passes.

Tore it all down and the fuel pump was dead, didn't spin freely so I assume it seized up due to heat. Drained tank and it had some particles in it, some might have been dust from Moab...
