You need to listen to a real aircraft mechanic. Your mechanics use oil? Since when? Have they ever read AC43-13a? Oil will get hot and coke up in the threads, that's why real mechanics never use oil...

bugs out of the oil cooler
Gently, so you don't flatten any fins, shoot compressed air from back to front, then gently (again, don't flatten the fins) rinse back to front with a hose. That works for me.

winds? we don't need no stinking winds!
Stick out one knee when in a crosswind - the downwind knee. It's amazing how it interrupts the flow and makes it a little less dodgy in cross winds.

fuel overflow
Top off the tank when you expect ride it immediately for some distance. If not going some distance to burn off fuel, don't top it off. Problem solved.
