Apparently they made a water-cooled boxer prototype in the late 80s. Was very powerful. Abandoned it, because the main advantage of a boxer twin is exceptional air cooling and decent balance.

Quality seems to be in that order. Nippondenso is best. Enduralast vs Valeo are equivalent. They are permanent magnet, gear reduction type and should use a bit less amperage.

Yeah. The EME Enduralast works well for a lot less money. The 8 tooth pinions are unobtainium. I gave up on rebuilding mine because I couldn't replace the pinion.
