All great advice. I rode with a Tourmaster II jacket and Rev'it Dakar pants. I ditched the useless jacket liner and wore a softshell jacket when needed. The pants had 3 layers (outer, rain, thermal)....

There are similar tunnels in South America. Peru's Cañon del Pato has a whole bunch. Maybe a bit more exciting than the ones in Colorado because the tunnels can be so long that you can't see light...

Like other said, head inland, to higher elevation if you really need cooler temps.

For what it's worth, this was the best upgrade I did for my KLR while riding in Mexico - a little cheap incline plastic fuel filter. Never needed to clean out my jets...
