That makes sense for pea-gravel\looser stuff. I guess I just break out the dirt bike for such things. Maybe someday I'll expand the stable to be quiet on trails like that.

What's the appeal of those on a regular trail? Totally get it for snow\sand\soft stuff, but it seems like it's dragging around an extra 15 lbs and limiting capability on single track :ear

No doubt, it's all about having fun. For what it's worth, make sure you turn the ABS to off or supermoto mode. Leaving it in street will put you in the grass if you're braking reasonably hard....

I honestly have no idea, but KTM mirrors are generally exchangeable. I had 990 mirrors on my 690 for a while.

That said, the factory ones on the 1290 are some of the better mirrors I've ever had...

Yeah, I think for a sticky tire, it's either Q3's if you want the best bang for your buck or Super Corsa's if you want absolute performance, but the Pirelli's aren't very competitive from a price...

I would certainly question KTM's oil recommendations. They recommended every 3k on my 690 and I was changing it at 2k or every other track day and the piston did not look good after 12k miles....
