It's a solid bike but unless it is plated now you may have different issue. The stock gearing is bit narrow for DS but with a few easy changes should work great. I'm 6'4"/200...

I use this set up currently and would say you will be just fine. If you need to replace some rubber before your long day home you will have plenty of options along the route to take care of that......

Well, there is always ride the flat until you're out of the woods or fill with tube seal and pump it up... you still will need a pump -- then change it out when you get home. Fighting with the bike...
